6 repellent plants that keep rats and mice out of the house

Tansy: Tansy, a gardener’s friend, is both fungicidal and insecticidal. Its fragrant flowers deter mice and various insects. It is easy to care for and effective in decoctions to protect the garden.

Elderberry: Elderberry roots and flowers are often grown near deposits and give off a strong scent and a natural poison that repels rodents such as rats and moles. Elderberry manure in particular exudes an odor that rodents find repulsive.

Wormwood: Wormwood is known for its insecticidal properties and effectively repels rodents. Plant it near your garden or use a decoction to spray in nog-prone areas. Dried wormwood can also be used in bags to repel indoor moths.

Peppermint:

While we enjoy their aroma, rats despise them. Plant peppermint around the house and garden to keep rodents away. It is also effective against various insects.

Chamomile: Not just for tea, the scent of chamomile is a powerful rodent repellent. Hang dried chamomile in corners or sprinkle it along the rodent paths to deter it.

Cynoglossum officinale (Rat Dog): As the nickname suggests, this plant is a natural deterrent against rodents. Spread out boiled branches or plant them on your property to keep rodents away. Be careful, however, as it is also toxic to humans.

Promoting natural enemies such as cats can also help control rodent populations. Keep in mind that a diverse ecosystem is often the best defense against pests.
