Face mapping: What your skin can reveal about your health

Facial mapping, a practice that has its origins in traditional Chinese medicine and Ayurvedic medicine, is attracting the attention of more and more people who want to understand the underlying causes of their skin problems. If you suffer from redness, dry skin, or acne, you may have wondered if there are internal causes. Mapping the face may well be a path to explore, as it links skin conditions to imbalances in the internal organs.

What is Face Mapping?

Facial mapping is an ancient technique that makes connections between facial problems and a person’s overall health. This approach combines elements of Eastern and Western medicine by taking into account various factors such as allergies, diet, stress, hormones, and even personality type (or body constitution). For example, acne that occurs on certain parts of the face is often seen as a sign of certain imbalances in the body.

Here’s a look at what face mapping can reveal:

  • Pimples on the forehead: These are believed to be related to the small intestine and bladder and are often caused by stress, poor digestion, or lack of sleep.
  • Rashes between or above the eyebrows: This would indicate an imbalance in the kidneys, stomach or bladder, or even inflammation of the small intestine.
  • Wrinkles between the eyebrows (right side): This could indicate a repression of emotions such as anger as well as liver dysfunction.
  • Bags under the eyes: often due to poor kidney function.
  • Acne on the chin, around the mouth, and on the jaw: This area is associated with the reproductive system and colon, as well as hormonal and digestive problems.

The cards vary depending on their origin, but most divide the face into at least ten different areas, each of which is associated with a specific organ or function.
