Soup Beans with Cornbread

Ingredients:
– 1 lb dried pinto beans
– 6 cups water
– 1 ham hock or 4 slices bacon
– 1 onion, chopped
– 2 cloves garlic, minced
– Salt and pepper to taste
– Cornbread (your favorite recipe or mix)

Instructions:

1. Rinse beans and soak overnight, then drain.
2. In a large pot, combine beans, water, and ham hock.
3. Add onion and garlic, bring to a boil.
4. Reduce heat and simmer 2–3 hours until beans are tender.
5. Remove ham hock, shred meat, and return to pot.
6. Season generously with salt and pepper.
7. Meanwhile, bake cornbread until golden.
8. Serve beans hot in bowls with slices of cornbread on the side.
