Ingredients

  • 2 lbs potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced

  • 2 cups cooked chicken, shredded

  • 1 cup heavy cream

  • 1 cup milk

  • 2 cups shredded cheese (cheddar or mozzarella, or a mix)

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • Salt and black pepper, to taste

  • 1 tablespoon butter (for greasing the dish)

  • Chopped chives or parsley for garnish (optional)


Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).

  2. Grease a baking dish with butter.

  3. Layer the ingredients:

    • Add half of the sliced potatoes to the bottom of the dish.

    • Spread half of the shredded chicken on top.

    • Sprinkle with half of the cheese.

  4. Repeat the layers with the remaining potatoes, chicken, and cheese.

  5. Prepare the sauce:

    • In a small saucepan, gently warm the heavy cream, milk, and garlic.

    • Do not boil.

  6. Pour the sauce evenly over the layered casserole.

    • Season with salt and pepper.

  7. Bake uncovered for 45–50 minutes, until the top is golden and the potatoes are fork-tender.

  8. Rest and serve:

    • Let the dish sit for 5–10 minutes before serving.
