1. Here’s how: First, knead the dough with margarine or butter, sugar, eggs, baking powder, and flour. Cut the apples into large pieces (e.g., eighths, depending on the size of the apples) and fold them into the dough. Transfer everything to a greased baking pan and smooth out slightly (though this is easier said than done).
2. Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C on the lowest rack for about 1 hour. After 45 minutes, brush generously with butter and sprinkle generously with sugar or a sugar and cinnamon mixture.
