How to remove baked-on grease stains from laundry

A friend of my mother’s suggested using Dawn Platinum Erasing Dish Foam as a solution to our grease stain problem. Designed primarily for cleaning dishes by absorbing grease, she said it also worked wonders on laundry. Curious and desperate, my mother tried it and confirmed its effectiveness. Taking her word for it, I decided to try it myself. I initially purchased it at Target a couple of times, but its availability was a bit spotty. Therefore, I decided to switch to Amazon for future refills.
The unique feature of this soap is its foamy consistency upon application: a small amount is enough for a long-lasting effect. Simply apply a small amount directly to each grease stain.
Rub the dish soap into the fabric with your fingers, making sure the entire stained area is covered.
Allow Dawn Platinum Erasing Dish Foam to act on your clothes for about five minutes before washing.
Use your regular detergent and wash your clothes according to the instructions. Personally, I choose to wash all my clothes in cold water using Tide Coldwater Clean.
If the grease or oil stain persists, reapply Dawn foam cleaner and repeat the process. In some cases, stubborn and persistent stains required two or three washes, but most were removed after just one treatment, even if the stained shirt had been previously washed and dried.
I’ve only tested this method on cotton, polyester, and denim. If you encounter a stain on more delicate fabrics, I recommend testing Dawn stain erasing foam on a small, inconspicuous area first.
Finding this solution for removing stubborn grease and oil stains was a huge relief! Even though I still don’t enjoy washing clothes, it’s one less hassle to deal with!
So, what’s your advice for effectively removing stubborn or set stains? I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments!
