While it might look like a decorative afterthought, the bed runner is a strategic tool used by hotels for three main reasons:
1. Protection Against Dirty Shoes
This is the most practical reason. Many travelers have a habit of flopping onto the bed to rest or check their phones immediately after checking in—often without taking their shoes off.
