Learn how to grow avocados in pots and say goodbye to buying them

Preparation of the seeds: Get the avocado pit, wash it thoroughly, and then insert three toothpicks into it, creating a kind of support so that the pit floats above the water in the pot. This step allows the roots to develop and strengthen the plant, which helps maintain its weight.

Sunny location: Place the pot in a well-ventilated, sunny place. Once the stem of the plant reaches about 15 cm, cut it off, leaving about 7 cm. This strengthens the stem, accelerates root growth and promotes the development of new leaves.

Repotting: When the first leaves appear, transplant the plant into a larger pot. Remove the toothpicks and plant the seed in the soil. If the stem exceeds 15 cm, cut off the leaves and remove those that are more than 30 cm long.

Technique for accelerating the fruiting of the avocado tree

The avocado tree will begin to grow, and the next step is to wait for it to bear fruit (this will take about 5-6 months). However, avocado trees do not bear fruit easily and can last for several years. A quicker way to speed up the process is grafting – make a side cut to encourage the growth of new stems.

Be sure to water the plant regularly so that it grows optimally. With these steps, you can enjoy your homemade avocado and say goodbye to the avocado you bought.
