My Grandma would kill me for sharing this! Her ‘Secret Crunch’ method makes this the most requested dessert in the neighborhood. One bite and you’ll see why!

Old Fashioned Apple Crisp
Ingredients:
For the filling:
– 6–7 medium apples (Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, or a mix)
– 1/2 cup granulated sugar
– 1 tsp cinnamon
– 1/4 tsp nutmeg (optional)
– 1 tbsp all-purpose flour
– 1 tsp lemon juice
For the topping:
– 3/4 cup old-fashioned rolled oats
– 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
– 1/2 cup brown sugar (light or dark)
– 1/2 tsp cinnamon
– 1/4 tsp salt
– 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cut into small cubes
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
2. Peel, core, and slice the apples into thin slices and place them in a large bowl.
3. In the bowl, add granulated sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, all-purpose flour, and lemon juice to the apples. Toss gently to coat all the slices evenly.
4. Transfer the apple mixture to a greased 9×13 inch baking dish.
5. In a separate bowl, combine oats, flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt.
6. Add the cold butter cubes to the dry mixture. Using a pastry cutter or your fingertips, blend the butter into the mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs.
7. Sprinkle the topping evenly over the apple filling.
8. Bake in the preheated oven for 40-45 minutes or until the topping is golden brown and the apple filling is bubbling.
9. Let the apple crisp cool slightly before serving. Enjoy warm, optionally with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
