🚨 Two signs we ignored
1️⃣ Persistent abdominal or back pain
My father complained of back pain, which he attributed to his posture and age. However, the pain persisted, radiating to the upper abdomen and worsening at night or after meals. This type of dull, constant, or radiating pain, especially if it worsens over time, is often an early symptom of pancreatic cancer. Unfortunately, it’s often confused with minor digestive or muscle problems.
2️⃣ Rapid and unexplained weight loss
In just three weeks, she lost over 11 pounds without dieting or exercising. Her appetite disappeared, and she began to feel tired. We thought it was stress. In reality, the cancer was compromising the digestive function of the pancreas, preventing it from properly absorbing nutrients. Sudden weight loss without an apparent cause is always a medical warning sign.
⚡ Other signs to watch out for
While pain and weight loss are the most characteristic symptoms, other symptoms may also appear:
🟡 Jaundice (yellowing of the skin and eyes) caused by bile duct obstruction
😴 Chronic fatigue that persists despite rest
🤢 Nausea, bloating, indigestion after meals
💩 Light-colored stools or dark urine
🩸 Newly diagnosed diabetes after age 50 with no obvious cause
Considered individually, these symptoms may seem harmless, but together they should prompt consultation.
