Small hole in the padlock – An unusual feature you didn’t know!

Identify the small hole, which is usually located near the hinge or side of the padlock. It may be small, but its function is much more significant than it seems.
This hole is often where the so-called “water drain” or “drainage” is located. It is used in padlocks that are designed to operate in difficult weather conditions (e.g. rain, snow).
If the padlock is exposed to moisture, water can get into the lock mechanism, causing it to get stuck. A small opening acts as a ventilation and ensures water drainage, which helps to keep the mechanism in good condition.
In case you notice that the padlock is rusty or its mechanism is jammed, it is worth using oil or grease to moisturize the interior, and a small hole will help drain excess substances.
Serving and storage tips:
Check the condition of the padlock regularly to make sure the small opening is not clogged. This can speed up the corrosion process.
Store the padlock in a dry place to reduce the risk of it coming into contact with moisture.
If you use the padlock outdoors, it is worth using waterproof grease to provide even more protection against corrosion.
