Prepare flaxseed gel: Bring a pot of water to a boil and add the flaxseed. Simmer for 10–15 minutes, until a slightly gel-like consistency is achieved. Stir occasionally.
Strain: Pour through a strainer or cheesecloth to separate the seeds from the gel.
Add ingredients: While still warm (but not hot), add the turmeric, ginger, honey, lemon, and a pinch of pepper. Mix well.
Pour into a bottle: Store the finished drink in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.
Serving and storage tips:
Drink 1/2 cup a day, preferably in the morning on an empty stomach or in the evening before bed.
Store in a glass bottle in the refrigerator. Shake gently before each use.
The drink has a mild, slightly nutty flavor with a spicy note – if you want, you can add a little cinnamon for flavor.
Variants:
With plant milk: Flaxseed gel can be added to warm oat or coconut milk – a great option for the evening.
With apple cider vinegar: Instead of lemon, add 1 teaspoon of apple cider vinegar – it supports metabolism and has anti-inflammatory properties.
Joint Support Smoothie: Add 2-3 tablespoons to a smoothie with banana, spinach and almond milk.
