Silverfish are primitive insects without wings whose ancestors could not fly. Unlike many other insects, silverfish can live almost anywhere there are humans!

Silverfish need high humidity (75-97%) and normal room temperature. They can feed on a wide range of foods, including cellulose, chitin, and starch. So they can eat everything from glue to books.

Silverfish are also surprisingly strong. Their tiny bodies, which can grow up to 2 cm long, are covered in silvery scales that fall easily on contact, allowing silverfish to escape their webs and predators.
